Q1: Who can have access to uHTS services?
A1: Anyone having a project approved and supported by NSC or Other agencies can apply for uHTS. This program is supported by NRPB, so we give service priority to the research projects of NRPB.

Q2 : How to arrange for a uHTS assay?
A2: As a new user, you need to complete an account application first. Please have your project information ready when working on both the Account and Project application forms. Once approved, you will be granted access to Project and Assy Managements, where you can add new project and new assay requests. You might have several assays in one project.
Note: A project is a titled research subject; an assay is one of the jobs executed in the project.

Q3: What is the status of your compound? what is the final DMSO concentration?
A3: Our compounds are solubilized in 100% DMSO and reformated to be 1 mM stock in online 1536-well plate.

The Research and Development scope of the GRC uHTS facility can be illustrated by the following scheme.

To this end, the Genomics Research Center at Academia Sinica has collected more than 2 million compounds. The majority of the entire collections in GRC2M are drug-like and diversified small molecular compounds. Almost all of the compounds are purified entities. The GRC2M library contains known drug, biologically active small molecules, natural products and their chemically modified derivatives, herbal, microbial metabolic molecule. All relevant information of the library compounds are archived in a database. Besides screening the small molecular library, the uHTS system can assist small interfering RNA (siRNA) technology in gene silencing to accelerate the identification of corresponding target genes and the confirmation of specific biological function and mechanisms. Furthermore, combining with the gene shuffling and phage display techniques, the uHTS system can be used in screening human antibodies produced from single B cells to obtain real human monoclonal antibodies and to speed up the resolution and confirmation of more biological cell surface biomolecules. The GRC's uHTS system is operated by a group of experienced staff in developing and automating biological assays as well as conducting biochemical and cell-based high-throughput screens. In addition, this uHTS facility has medicinal chemists and cheminformatics talents to add values to HTS screening services. It is one important platform at the initial stage of translation research for multi-disciplinary collaboration, linking chemists and biologists to explore disease targets and identify potential interesting compounds for target mechanism studies and drug discovery. It is expected the uHTS setup can benefit the target-mechanism study and pharmaceutical development. We will soon make available the uHTS technology to screen siRNA library for gene selence and target identification/validation and to screen antibody library displayed by phage for cell surface targeting and validation.

The HTS core provides a number of services as summarized below. Many of these services are for supporting research in nature and thus require frequent interactions between the users and the HTS core staff on various Conditions and Agreements.
